Myeloproliferative Neoplasms

A recent survey of patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), including myelofibrosis, polycythemia vera, and essential thrombocythemia, has identified a strong association between symptom burden and medical disability leave.
A multidisciplinary roundtable was convened on May 29, 2014, to gain insight and guidance from experts on the diagnosis and management of polycythemia vera (PV), including practical strategies, recent advances, and the emerging science.
In an effort to crystallize the evolving and practical application of diagnostic algorithms, prognostication, therapeutic goal setting, and disease management, a multidisciplinary roundtable was convened, which was comprised of physicians from MPN-focused academic centers, community hematologists, outpatient nursing staff, insurance plan administrators, and specialty pharmacists.
