Lynne S. Padgett, PhD

Strategic Director, Hospital Systems, The American Cancer Society

Dr. Padgett has served as the Strategic Director for Hospital Systems at the American Cancer Society (ACS). Her work includes working with the Commission on Cancer and ACS division staff to consult and implement initiatives aimed at integrating quality cancer care in community and academic cancer centers. These initiatives are across the cancer continuum from screening through end of life. Dr. Padgett’s priority programs include the ACS patient navigator program, survivorship, cancer rehabilitation and palliative care.

Her work with other organizations includes cancer related cognitive impairment the American College of Rehabilitation Medicine and as a member of the National Cancer Institute Research Network focused on integrating emotion and decision science perspectives into palliative care decision making.

Dr. Padgett completed her PhD in counseling psychology with an emphasis in behavioral medicine and research design and statistics from the University of Memphis. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship in rehabilitation psychology at Emory University Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She has worked in the School of Medicine at Emory University, and as a rehabilitation and health psychologist for Kaiser Permanente Department of Hospital Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia.

In 2011, Dr. Padgett began work at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in the Community Cancer Center Program providing expertise in cancer survivorship and palliative care. She also managed a portfolio of research in cognitive outcomes in pediatric and adult cancer survivorship, palliative care, cancer rehabilitation and distress screening.
