Lauren Welch, Kammi Fox-Kay, and Cathy Simmons share their thoughts on the importance of NGS testing in patients with NSCLC. Patients do better when they receive targeted therapy first, so reflex NGS is being implemented in most institutions for patients with NSCLC, especially those with earlier disease and positive lymph nodes. Optimal communication between the pathologist and treating physicians is key to obtaining NGS results in a timely manner.
