As navigators, we share the genuine desire to guide our patients and their families through the mystifying world of the cancer experience. Many of us aim to provide a holistic approach to cancer care for our patients and their caregivers. To assist in the practice of holistic care, AONN+ has established the Integrative Health Committee to help identify the modalities that fit seamlessly into the oncology care landscape.
The committee comprises navigators with a shared passion and rich experience with established, evidence-based integrative modalities to ultimately provide the AONN+ membership with resources to assist patients when making therapeutic choices to accompany their treatment regimens.
Committee Goals
The committee will aim to advance integrative health education and awareness, provide resources, and support AONN+ members in confidently offering integrative modalities in their practice. Further, we will define and standardize the role of navigation in the integrative health space, understand the benefits of integrative health modalities, and develop evidence-based educational resources for navigators to better support their patients. We have plans to study and validate our professional efforts and to collaborate on evidence-based metrics to advocate for dedicated integrative navigators to further support patients.
Publishing and Presenting
In each issue of JONS, we will present a “Modality of the Month” to highlight the variety of safe and effective complementary therapies that enhance quality of life and empower patients.
Further, we plan to contribute articles on integrative health modalities to Conquer, our sister publication, to directly reach patients.
Finally, we plan to present at AONN+ conferences to inform the membership of the impact of integrative health modalities.
Join Us!
We hope you will join us in the effort to raise awareness and provide much-needed education on these important interventions.
